West Lorne Optimist Mother's Day Road Race 2026

The West Lorne Optimist Mother's Day Road Race takes place on Mother's Day, May 10, 2026, in West Lorne, Ontario. Brought to runners by the Optimist Club of West Lorne Inc. in partnership with the Municipality of West Elgin, this event is an annual Mother's Day fixture that draws families and community supporters from the area for a morning of racing and fundraising.

The race program covers a range of options: a free 1K Kids Fun Run (free t-shirt for the first 50 kids, supplied on race day), 5K and 10K road races, a 5K walk, youth-only 5K and 10K categories for participants 18 and under, and a virtual participant option. Races start at 9:00 AM, with registration and race kit pick-up at West Lorne Arena from 7:30–8:30 AM; the Kids 1K runs at 10:00 AM. Chip bib tag timing is used for the timed events, with the timing ring attached to the race number.

What sets West Lorne's Mother's Day race apart is its community and charity focus. Proceeds support Optimist Children’s Charities and local youth initiatives, and the event highlights several community programs including the Conductive Education Trust Fund, the Bravery Bead Program, and local student nutrition programs. Every finisher receives a medal, and early registrants who sign up before April 15 receive a free shirt—details that keep the race family friendly and rewarding for participants of all ages.

Pre-registration runs through May 9, with race-day registration available at the arena. Race kit pick-up is the morning of the event at West Lorne Arena; check registration pages for current entry options and deadlines.
