Questions
- How do I work out my race pace?
- Divide your finish time by the distance. A 50:00 10K is 5:00 per km. Pick a distance above, choose My pace, and enter your finish time.
- What pace do I need for a 4-hour marathon?
- About 5:41 per km. Choose Marathon, then My pace, and enter 4:00:00 to see your km splits.
- How are the times at other distances worked out?
- They use Riegel's formula, a common way to predict a race time from another result. Treat them as estimates: most runners slow down more than predicted over longer distances, especially without the training for them.
- Does this account for hills or hot weather?
- Not yet. The splits assume an even pace on a flat course. Expect to run slower on a hilly course or a hot day.
