About
The 5k Race for Plates is a community 5K walk/run in Whitby’s Heydenshore waterfront area, organized with a local food-bank focus. It brings runners and walkers together on a simple, accessible summer morning course by the lake.
The event is set up for a broad range of participants, with walkers welcome, all speeds encouraged, and a family-friendly feel. A children’s category adds another layer to the day, while the overall purpose stays practical: move, donate, and keep the event approachable.
If you’re looking for a straightforward road 5K in Durham Region, this one pairs a waterfront setting with a charity-minded atmosphere. For more options nearby, see Road races in Whitby or 5K races in Whitby.
