About
The Fort Garry Rotary Half Marathon & 5K Fun Run brings runners to St. Vital Park in Winnipeg each September for a long-running local road race with a strong community focus. The 2026 edition marks the 14th half marathon and 9th 5K Fun Run.
The half marathon is a certified out-and-back course, while the 5K Fun Run is a two-lap loop around the park. A walk option is also listed, making the event accessible to a wider range of participants.
Beyond race day, the event supports addiction treatment, vocational training, and local youth and family causes.
For runners comparing local road options, it fits alongside other road races in Winnipeg.
Course
The half marathon starts at St. Vital Park near the Duck Pond and follows an out-and-back route through park roads, nearby streets, and river-side bike paths before returning to the park. Course markers are placed throughout, with kilometre markers at 5, 10, and 15 km.
The 5K Fun Run is a two-lap course around St. Vital Park’s perimeter road and begins shortly after the half marathon. Marshals and volunteers are positioned along the half marathon route, and water stations are set approximately every 2–3 km. Kit pickup is at Kenaston Running Room in Kenaston Village Mall at 1875 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg.
