About
The 19th Annual Shamrock’n Race returns to Burnaby Lake on March 15, 2026. Organized by TRY Events, this long-running St. Patrick’s Day–themed race brings together local runners and walkers each spring; the Shamrock’n is one of two annual lake races (the Rubber Ducky is held in October) and this edition marks the event's nineteenth year.
Runners can choose from a 5K, a 7‑mile, or a half‑marathon (21.1K). All distances start in a short staggered sequence beginning at 9:00 a.m. (half marathon), 9:03 a.m. (7 mile) and 9:09 a.m. (5K). The course is open for three hours with a firm course closure at 12:00 p.m.; a 15‑minute warm‑up period is scheduled before each start and awards are presented as soon as top finishers are confirmed.
What sets the Shamrock’n apart is its loop around Burnaby Lake Regional Park — a glacier‑formed wildlife sanctuary in the middle of the city. The 7‑mile and half‑marathon circle the lake clockwise, offering plenty of chances to spot birds and local wildlife while running on park trails. The race supports Ronald McDonald House BC/Yukon and offers a community atmosphere with bag check by donation and an event package that includes a branded shamrock magnetic Bluetooth speaker with lights.
Registration is available online with tiered pricing; online entries close one week prior to race day or when the supply cap is reached. Packet pickup and in‑person walk‑in registration are available during package pickup (space permitting). Check race pickup details and course maps before race day.
