About Tackle the Toad 2026

Tackle the Toad is a trail ultra hosted on Toad Mountain / Morning Mountain just outside Nelson, British Columbia. The event focuses on mountain trail running through cedar forests, technical singletrack and exposed alpine ridge running with expansive views of Kootenay Lake.

The race traditionally takes place in late June and offers two distances - a 20 km and a 50 km - with significant climbing and technical terrain. Course Details

Courses are fully trail-based featuring technical singletrack, steep climbs and technical descents through cedar forest and rocky alpine ridgelines on Toad Mountain / Morning Mountain. Expect mountain-running conditions with up to roughly 2,500 m of vertical gain (distance-dependent). Detailed route maps and GPX files have historically been published on the event’s Zone4 registration/results pages when available; check the current Zone4 event listing for official 2026 course maps and aid-station locations.
