2026 Frankie's Vertical Backyard Ultra

Frankie’s Vertical Backyard Ultra takes over Mabou, Nova Scotia on September 26, 2026, bringing a one-day vertical backyard challenge to a stunning Cape Breton setting. Runners tackle a ~4 km loop with 370 m of ascent and descent each lap, following backyard ultra rules with 1 hour to complete every circuit. Expect free camping at the start/finish, on-course water and Tailwind, and a race that gives back with a donation to the Mabou food bank from every registration.

This course is built around repeated climbing and descending on the same ~4 km route, with 370 m of elevation gain and loss each loop. The start/finish area also offers free camping for runners and crew, adding to the all-day backyard ultra atmosphere.
